History:

DaVinci Quest was formed as a limited liability company in Colorado in 2008.

It is a spin-off from the DaVinci Institute, a futurist think tank.

Thomas Frey, Founder and Executive Director of the DaVinci Institute is a highly regarded futurist speaker whose papers and writings are frequently quoted around the world.  He has always struggled with the question of why certain problems continue to exist.  In his analysis, he concluded that all problems may be solved with innovation if enough resources can be brought to focus on possible solutions.

At this point, Tom turned to Karl Dakin, a veteran entrepreneur, and asked his assistance in designing a business that could conduct a series of international contests at a level previously unacheived.  Starting with a study of the XPrize Foundation and other holders of other competitions, Karl developed a business model that focuses upon world problems, integrates economic development with each contest and leverages publicity - all upon the foundation of 'crowdsourcing' - using Web 2.0 technology to draw upon the wisdom of the world.

It was decided to structure the company as a for profit, social enterprise and the company was launched in late 2008.

During 2009, Karl guided Davinci Quest through its early development stages and initial round of funding, and put together it's initial management team,  and envisioned and created the initial contest program offerings.

And for the coming year (2010), we are poised to launch our Green Building and Mass Storage contest programs and extended training and support solutions.
